European Visiting Research FellowshipsThe aim of these awards, which are made available through the Royal Society of Edinburgh, is to create a two-way flow of visiting scholars in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences between Scotland and Europe. Fellowships are available to academic, or academic-related staff, to enable them to spend a period of up to six months, doing research and, for example participating in seminars in both the host institution and elsewhere. Normally a total of eight European Visiting Research Fellowships are awarded annually (four in each direction).
Applications for Fellowships to be held during 2008 closed on 2nd November 2007. The documents (Regulations and the Application forms) available for download below pertain to the last round of applications; updated ones will be available in the summer of 2008.

The Foundation does not discriminate on grounds of gender, ethnicity, nationality or disability. It seeks only to appoint to its Fellowships and Scholarships those individuals whose applications have achieved excellent rankings following peer review and who will benefit most from the awards. It does, however, require that Fellows and Scholars live and work in Scotland during their tenure of the Foundation's award - except where the award is specifically for, or incorporates an approved period of, work outwith Scotland.
