Seven fellowships were awarded

 

European Visiting Research Fellowships 2005

The Foundation awarded seven Fellowships for research and travel within Europe as indicated.

For travel from Scotland to Europe

Dr Natalie A. Adamson, School of Art History, University of St Andrews to visit the Institut National d'Histoire de l'Art, Paris to carry out archival research for three chapters of a book which will incorporate analysis of aspects of art production in post-War France.

Dr Peter A. R. van Dommelen, Department of Archaeology, University of Glasgow to visit the Department of Prehistory & Archaeology, University of Valencia, and the Archaeological Museum and various archaeological sites in Ibiza to continue his research into colonialism, landscape and rural settlement in the Punic world.

Dr Andrew M. Godfrey, School of Law, University of Glasgow to visit the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History, Frankfurt am Main to complete his research and writing for a book on the origins of the Scottish Court of Session and the significance of the fuondation of the College of Justice in 1532.

Dr Jens Timmermann, Department of Moral Philosophy, University of St Andrews to visit the Philosophisches Seminar, Gottingen University to continue his work on an extended English version of his earlier publication of Immanuel Kant's Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals.


For travel from Europe to Scotland

Dr Martin Ivanov, History Institute, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences to visit the Department of Economic & Social History, University of Edinburgh to investigate further the adaptability of the 'new' economies of Bulgaria and other 'peripheral' economies within the more competitive framework of the European Union.

Dr Joan Carles Maixe Altes, Department of Applied Economics, University of La Coruna, Spain to visit the Department of Economic & Social History, University of Glasgow for work associated with a comparative study of Spanish and Scottish/UK savings banks, their origins, development and influence on their respective banking systems.

Dr Ilena Ruggiu, Faculty of Law, University of Cagliari, Italy to visit the Faculty of Law & Financial Studies, University of Glasgow for research on the common juridical principles in European and national law: the case of Scotland and the policies of devolution.
