For visits from Scotland to Europe
Dr Christine Barker, Charity Law Research Unit, University of Dundee, to visit Humboldt University, Berlin to carry out research on 'the definition and regulation of religious purposes' and 'public charitable collections' within the charity regulation in Germany, as part of a wider research project comparing charity regulation in Scotland, England & Wales and Germany.
Dr Catherine Emmott, Department of English Language, University of Glasgow, to visit the Institute of Linguistics, University of Utrecht, The Netherlands to continue her research in the field of text processing and cognitive 'world-building', enabling her to complete the first draft of a book entitled "Constructing Narrative Worlds: Rhetorical Structure, Style and Reader Response".
Dr Andrew Roach, Department of History, University of Glasgow, to visit the British School in Rome, where he will extend his archive research on the Mendicant Friars in Eastern Europe, 1200-1550 and carry out drafting of a book on the subject.
Dr Genevieve Warwick, Centre for Theatre, Film & TV Studies, University of Glasgow, to visit the American Academy in Rome to carry out research on 'speaking statues' and urban renewal in early modern (16th-century) Rome, in particular on the famous statue, Pasquino.
For visits from Europe to Scotland
Dr Ivan Biliarsky, Institute of History, Sofia, Bulgaria, will visit the Department of Medieval History, University of St Andrews to continue his research into the individual and power in the mediaeval East and West, in particular the social structure of Scotland during the Middle Ages.
Professor Nevenka Hrovatin, Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, will visit the Economics Department, Glasgow Caledonian University Business School where he will analyse recent trends in the UK utilities - including comparative efficiency of public and private enterprises, regulation, pricing policies and competitive tendering - to establish best practice for Slovenia.
Professor Vojtech Lahoda, Institute of Art History, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, will visit the School of Art History, University of St Andrews to carry out further research on Czech art historian Vincenc Kramar and his views of the work and influence of Constable.
Dr Mikhail Mikeshin, Institute for History of Science & Technology, Russian Academy of Sciences, St Petersburg, will visit the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities, University of Edinburgh to investigate people who played an important part in the process of ideas transfer between Britain, and particularly Scotland, and Russia during the 18th century - the Age of Enlightenment.
