The Foundation awarded two Postgraduate Scholarships to support young people carrying out three-year programmes of research leading to a PhD degree in a Scottish University. In both instances, the new Foundation Scholars will be working for their degrees in the universities of which they are already graduates.
Ainsley McIntosh, who has both an MA in English & Scottish Literature and an MLitt in English Literary Studies from Aberdeen University, will be remaining there to carry out her work for a PhD entitled "A Critical Edition of Marmion by Walter Scott".
John Walker, has just graduated MSci in Mathematics & Physics from Glasgow University and he will carry out the work for his PhD on "Ricci-flat Kaehler metrics on complexified homogeneous spaces" in Glasgow's Mathematics Department.
